Beans, Nuts, and Seeds

We have a good variety of organic dried beans and lentils. These are available by the pound or can be special ordered by the 25 lb bag. Beans are packed with protein and fiber, and much less per pound compared to meat.

Because of the high fiber they give you a feeling of fullness and keep you full longer. Did you know that eating a half cup of beans (pintos, kidney, black eyed peas, lentils, etc) for breakfast will help regulate your blood sugar all day? It’s an amazing, beneficial food!

Tip #1: to cut down on the extra gas some folks experience you can soak the beans overnight, drain and then freeze for a couple days. Then put in water and cook as usual.

Tip#2: If you are just starting to eat beans regularly you will notice an increase in gas. Stick with it! After a few days the muskets will stop firing, your body will adjust to that healthy increase in fiber, and you will be doing a lot towards increasing your gut health!

A variety of raw seeds and nuts are available in our bulk bins, where you serve yourself.

Nuts include pecans (pieces and halves), walnuts, cashews (pieces and whole) and almonds (whole, sliced, slivered, and whole organic).

Seeds include organic pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, chia and flax.
